Last Sunday, I went for fika downtown, on Lucia day. My friend and I were pleasantly surprised to be entertained by a very good good a cappella group doing a folksy Lucia performance. The candles were all real and slightly dangerous looking, both in Lucia’s hair and in her hands. I had no camera and no choice but to make a quick sketch. Wish I could have sketched how it sounded, too!

  1. I love St. Lucia Day, and we started celebrating it when the kids were little with sweet rolls and coffee and candles. What a wonderful tradition. We are so happy to have found it so we could adopt it at our house ๐Ÿ™‚

There are, of course, no public celebrations here, but what a treat this one must have been for you ๐Ÿ™‚ I’d love to see a group of people dressed for it and singing. Your sketch and the other pictures I’ve seen are delightful.

    1. It is my favourite Christmas-related tradition, no contest! Still, I havenยดt seen a proper Lucia procession in years… This was really wonderful, though, a neat surprise and a good break from studying! ๐Ÿ˜€
